Car Museum

Encounter the spell of more than 220 vehicles, presented in a compilation unparalleled in Germany: Motor bikes carefully looked after, some with sidecars, curious three-wheeled vehicles like the BMW Isetta, eccentric means of transportation, like the Messerschmidt cabin scooter, and many more.

Small Cars, Great Stories

Living environments authentically furnished with numerous single fitments and consumer goods that are typical of the period, provide an imposing insight into the development of bikes and automobiles in the post-war period of economic boom (“Wirtschaftswunder”). On three floors in the car museum you can encounter the heady period of motorization in the Black Forest and in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1945 to 1960 - an unforgettable experience.

Le collectionneur

Martin Sauter est entrepreneur, collectionneur et mécène. C'est dans les années 1960 déjà, alors que les véhicules exposés dans notre musée faisaient encore partie du quotidien,que le fabricant de balance de Balingen (ayant de la famille à Schramberg) commença sa collection. Les petits véhicules d'aprèsguerre l'intéressaient particulièrement parce qu'ils témoignaient d'un grand potentiel de créativité au niveau technique; l'ingéniosité joua un rôle très important dans ces années de reconstruction. Martin Sauter a pu se procurer des véhicules déjà rares à l'époque pour les restaurer petit à petit.
